For the first time ever, an Alabama mom named Rebekka booked a flight with her new baby girl, all by herself.
Needless to say, she was anxious about the trip and worried about having to manage her baby and all of their belongings. The destination was worth the stress, though — Rebekka and her daughter, Rylee, were off to surprise Dad who works as a firefighter in the US Army.
Rebekka boarded her 5:30 a.m. flight, but it didn’t take long for things to go downhill. Not only was the plane quiet and crowded, but Rylee started fussing and crying before the plane even began to taxi.
To make matters worse, she was already getting strange looks from the passengers seated around her. The stress began to build, and Rebekka tried everything she could to calm her baby down.
But fate would have its way, and something happened on the plane that completely restored this new mom’s faith in strangers.
Keep reading to learn more about the incredible happening that took place on Rebekka’s flight — and a budding new friendship.
Rebekka planned a surprise trip to see her husband in the army -- but she was totally stressed about flying alone with her new baby girl, Rylee, plus all of their luggage.
As soon as Rebekka boarded the plane with her baby in tow, she knew it wasn't going to be easy. The early morning flight was not only quiet, but also nearly full.
Rebekka could tell the couple sitting next to her was annoyed with her crying baby. So, she asked the flight attendant if she could move to another row with two empty seats next to each other. The third seat was occupied by a woman who did something incredible.
No matter what Rebekka would do, Rylee wouldn’t stop crying. That's when Nyfesha, the woman sitting next to them, asked to hold her. Before Rebekka knew it, Rylee was peacefully gazing out the window. Nyfesha rocked the baby to sleep and let her stay in her lap the entire flight until they landed.
Nyfesha told Rebekka she was more than happy to help her and her baby. She even carried Rylee off the plane and held her so Rebekka could put the stroller and carseat back together. Rebekka didn't have to struggle to do it all alone.
Once she reached her destination and was reunited with her husband, Rebekka penned an open letter to her hero and posted it to Facebook. The photos of Nyfesha holding Rylee are quickly going viral, with tens of thousands of shares.
An excerpt from the letter reads: "Nyfesha Miller, you will never understand how happy this act of kindness has made my family. You could’ve just rolled your eyes and been irritated like everyone else, but you took her and held her the entire flight and let me get some rest and peace of mind. It brought tears to my eyes while I sat there and watched you and Rylee sleeping next to me. I just couldn’t believe how that ended up working out and how caring you were to us. Thank you SO much!! God bless you!!"
