While planning their wedding, Gary and Tracy Richardson knew they wanted to go about it a bit differently.
They wanted to put a modern spin on the traditional wedding ceremony and bring the service to life in a special way. So when Reverend Kate Bottley of St Mary and St Martin’s, Blyth suggested a flash mob, Gary and Tracy were instantly sold on the creative idea.
Along with their choreographer and musical director, Dawn Cherry and Nigel Solway respectively — and 28 of Gary and Tracy’s closest friends and family — the happy couple began rehearsing their unique approach to getting hitched.
Tracy describes the result as “Our perfect day of love, laughter, music and reflection.” The second the church starts blasting “Everybody Dance Now,” you’ll totally understand why. I’ve never seen a wedding — or flashmob — like this before.
Since uploading the fabulous wedding performance to YouTube in 2013, it’s been viewed over six million times and has become one of the internet’s most beloved viral wedding videos. “For those of you who took part, thank you for your time and commitment, you made our wish come true and have created a lasting memory,” Tracy writes. “For those of you who were there, thank you again for being with us and joining in and to everyone else, remember – you will always achieve your dreams with the love and support of those around you, a fantastic vicar, church and congregation and a bit of faith!”
