Woman Brushes Alcohol All Over Plain Icing Sheet, Then Transforms It Into A Watercolor Galaxy

Jess is a curly-haired Jersey girl who adores penguins and watches the worst reality shows on TV.

I absolutely love to bake, but decorating a pastry is hands-down the best part of the process.

Until I saw this simple tutorial for a watercolor galaxy cake decoration, I didn’t know it was possible for a beginner to create such a hypnotizing design!

In the video below, posted on April 2, 2017, Elizabeth Marek of the Sugar Geek Show shows us the easiest way to create a cake that will amaze all of your guests.

She starts out with a plain white sheet of icing that’s perfect for decorating. She lays it down on the table and prepares to create her masterpiece.

Next, she pulls out a bottle of 190-proof alcohol and pours some of it into a small yellow bowl. She dips a paintbrush in the liquid and begins spreading it on the icing sheet. She is very generous with her application, ensuring that the layer of alcohol won’t dry right away.

After she’s done with the first step, she grabs a few options of edible food coloring and dips the paintbrush in each color, one by one. She starts with yellow and leaves medium-sized drips on the surface of the icing. She moves on to a red-orange hue, then chooses a purple-pink color. She creates bigger splotches as she goes and starts swirling some of the colors together. Next, she takes blue, and by now the colors seem to glide into one another, mixing with the help of the alcohol underneath.

She continues the process until the sheet is totally filled. Finally, she begins adding her stars to pull the entire look together.
