Seeing dogs who are abused and neglected is always heartbreaking.

After I adopted my dog last summer, I fell completely in love with her. I’ll never understand how people could be so heartless to these sweet, innocent creatures.

Luckily, many abused dogs are rescued and transformed by loving people, like this cutie-pie pit bull who couldn’t stop smiling after her rescue. On the way to finding their forever homes, though, lots of pups have to get some serious care from veterinarians and groomers.

One place that specializes in helping to transform dogs in bad condition is the Vet Ranch, where veterinarians care for dogs who have been abused and neglected, like the tiny puppy who came in pink with mange.

Recently, the vets came across Dolly, a 2-year-old German shepherd in terrible condition — her fur was matted, mange had ravaged her body, and her skin was “scaly.”

The poor dog was scared and uncomfortable, but she was lucky to already have a forever home lined up. Vets immediately got to work on Dolly and treated her for mange and mites.

Within weeks, her hair was growing back and she seemed much happier. Watch the video below to see what Dolly looks like two months after Vet Ranch found her!
