Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune are two of the most iconic game shows in television history. The two shows have been on the air in one form or another since the mid-’70s.

Hosts Alex Trebek, Vanna White, and Pat Sajak have been on the syndicated versions of their respective shows since the ’80s, so it makes sense that these game show hosts have known each other for decades.

Recently, Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek made the heartbreaking announcement that he had been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

“Now, just like 50,000 other people in the United States each year, this week I was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer,” he said.

“Now normally, the prognosis for this is not very encouraging, but I’m going to fight this, and I’m going to keep working. And with the love and support of my family and friends and with the help of your prayers also, I plan to beat the low survival rate statistics for this disease.”

Entertainment Tonight caught up with Alex’s longtime friend, Vanna White, and asked her how he’s doing amid his battle with cancer.

“He is hanging in there,” she told an ET reporter. “He is a strong man and has such a will to conquer this. Don’t be surprised if he doesn’t do it.”
