Country stars Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood have been married for 13 years! Now, the happy couple is spilling their secrets about having a successful marriage.
Both Garth and Trisha were married before — him, twice, and her, three times — so they knew what they were looking for before they began their relationship.
Garth Brooks married his college sweetheart, Sandy Mahl, in 1986. Garth and Sandy had three children together — Taylor, August, and Allie — before splitting up in 1999.
Trisha Yearwood was married to Chris Latham from 1987 to 1991, and to Robert “Bobby” Reynolds from 1994 to 1999.
Garth and Trisha met in the early 1990s and became fast friends.
Throughout the ’90s, they remained close acquaintances, and finally started dating in 2000.
On December 10, 2005, Trisha and Garth tied the knot in a private ceremony at their home in Oklahoma. Now they’ve been married for 13 happy years, and they’re opening up about how they’ve managed to have such a wonderful marriage.
Their biggest secret? Spending all their time together. No matter what they’re doing, Trisha and Garth do it together. Trisha told Us Weekly, “It should have been in our vows. We didn’t want to be together to be apart.”
Obviously, the marriage hasn’t been all rainbows and butterflies. Like any professional couple, Trisha and Garth often have to spend time apart. But on those days, they work their hardest to get back together as soon as they can. Trisha explained, “We plan our days if we’re gonna be apart so that we can get back together as soon as possible.”
