Tree Falls Onto Condos After Being Struck By A Truck, But Impact Saves Residents And Driver

During the late-night hours on June 17, 2017, in Littleton, Colorado, the driver of a semi-truck lost control while driving. Police reported that the driver’s steering while jammed up and the result ended with him crashing into a large tree that was growing next to a condominium building. After the crash, the truck burst into flames.

“I heard like a spark and then an explosion,” Erin Slater, a resident of the condos, said. “That’s when the fire started.”

While it seems grim, it’s actually a miracle. If it wasn’t for the tree, the truck would have slammed into one of the units causing more damage and hurting everyone inside.

Thankfully, the driver miraculously escaped with only a cut on his finger and no one who lived in the condos was injured. Ryan Beech, a resident who saw the accident, said the driver managed to escape before his truck caught on fire. “He actually did jump out and rolled,” Ryan said. “He wasn’t seriously injured.”

The truck also ended up hitting three cars, amazingly all were parked and no one was inside the vehicles.

About the truck stopping just feet from his building, Ryan couldn’t believe how close of a call it was.

“Extremely close,” Ryan said. “It couldn’t have been any closer. If that tree wasn’t there I’m sure, you know, there would have been some injuries and the building for sure would have burned down then.”
