Tom Hanks: The Mr. Rogers we need, and the Mr. Rogers we deserve.
A video of Tom Hanks singing the classic and iconic Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood tune, “It’s Such a Good Feeling,” with kids has surfaced, and y’all better grab some tissues, because this wholesome clip will make you weep with sheer and utter joy.
The video shows Hanks holding a sign made for him by a young girl, who is clearly in awe of the 62-year-old actor, as he leads a group of children and adults in song.
Can you even think of a more wholesome thing you’ve seen this week?
Tom has been in the Pittsburgh area recently, filming the highly anticipated Mister Rogers movie under the working title of You Are My Friend. The movie focuses on Fred Rogers’ “unlikely friendship with award-winning journalist Tom Junod, who got to know the television personality while writing a 1998 profile on the star for Esquire magazine.”
And although the movie has been dubbed a “biopic,” the director of the film, Marielle Heller, recently told Entertainment Weekly, “I disliked that when it got announced it was characterized as such. It’s really not. It’s a movie that’s largely focused on a reporter and [Mr. Rogers’] relationship to his life, and how [the reporter’s] whole world changes when coming in contact with Fred Rogers.”
Earlier this week, the first picture of Hanks as Mr. Rogers surfaced, and fans understandably went bonkers over the photo.
You Are My Friend is set to hit theaters in October 2019.
