Ben Rawson was working on a farm when his living situation suddenly changed. He was forced to move himself, his wife, and his 3-year-old daughter out of their home.

Although he had few resources, he came up with a plan. He would build a temporary tiny home for his family to stay in until they got their affairs in order.

His friend, who owned the farm he was working for, allowed the small family to park their tiny home on his property. Before Rawson knew it, other people began to reach out to him. They were also interested in living in tiny homes of their own!

Rawson started up his own tiny home company, The Zen Cottages. He and his family have really taken to the lifestyle of living in a tiny home and are even in the process of getting like-minded people together to create their own sustainable tiny community!

Although Ben Rawson and his family never expected to live in a tiny home, those are the cards that life dealt them.

He managed to turn an unfortunate situation into an incredible new living space and a future career.

Rawson’s tiny and mobile homes come in three different models, all varying in size. Although they’re tiny, they contain everything a small family could need to live comfortably.

Each home is custom built to suit a customer’s needs. The Zen Cottages can include amenities such as a solar kit, exterior storage, and even full bathtubs!

From small breakfast bar seating to a private nook in the corner of the room, Rawson takes each of his customers’ needs into account and designs the perfect setup.

Of course, there’s still room in each tiny house loft for a queen-size mattress!

Today, Rawson farms organic crops in Encinitas, California, and is hoping to build up a community of people that don’t mind living out their lives in smaller spaces.

Once he gains enough interest, he plans on working with San Diego County legislators to make sure their tiny sustainable community isn’t breaking any codes!

In the meantime, he and his family get to enjoy a beautiful and simple tiny house existence!

Would you consider living in a tiny community if it meant getting a beautiful view like this?
