Thomas Markle, father of Meghan Markle, has finally broken his silence about the royal wedding ever since it was announced he would not be attending because of his emergency heart surgery.

He sat down for a long-awaited interview with Good Morning Britain and shared a lot with the public.

Thomas revealed how Meghan first told him about her new love interest. “Daddy, I have a new boyfriend,” she said before reluctantly adding more details. “And he’s British.”

Then came the bombshell: “He’s a prince.”

However, Thomas was hardly phased or intimidated by Harry’s royal status. When Harry asked him for Meghan’s hand in marriage, the doting dad issued a stern warning: “Promise me you’ll never raise your hand against my daughter.”

Thomas admitted two interesting things during the interview. He described how it felt to not walk his daughter down the aisle. While he was “glad” Prince Charles walked Meghan down the aisle, he admitted he was a little jealous. He also said the series of staged paparazzi photos taken the week before the wedding was “a serious mistake.”

The father of the Duchess of Sussex also revealed the royal newlyweds could be ready for a baby in the near future.

My favorite part of the interview, however, was when Thomas revealed his true feelings about Meghan: “My daughter’s been a princess since the day she was born.”
