A lot of dieters take part in what’s called a “cheat meal.” Basically, it’s when you follow your diet (whatever that may be) for the first six days of the week, then “cheat” on the last day and eat what you want. Carbs, ice cream, pizza — whatever is generally off-limits is on the menu that night! For Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, cheat meals are a necessity.
The Rock, who is known for his incredible physique, reportedly eats many high-protein meals each day. A typical meal for The Rock is either an egg-white omelet or chicken breast and some rice. It’s strict, it’s kinda boring, and he has to eat it constantly throughout the day — in between rigorous exercising regimens, of course.
However, on Sundays, The Rock “cheats” and eats whatever he wants. The action star often shares photos of his over-the-top cheat meals, and this latest one has blown everyone’s minds.
On Sundays, The Rock usually shares photos of his cheat meals on Instagram.
Here, he ate chocolate-chip banana pancakes with peanut butter and syrup. He calls that a “cheat meal,” but we like to call it “breakfast.”
Another time he ate both pancakes and sushi, which is… an interesting combination, to say the least.
Fun fact: The actor once got a birthday cake shaped like a stack of pancakes because he loves them so much!
One time, he ate a plate of brownies and two turkey subs.
“I make my cheat meals EPIC because, hell, we all work hard and only live once,” he captioned the photo of that particular meal.
If you follow The Rock on social media, you know he often eats his “epic” meals in front of his laptop while watching something (usually a documentary) on Netflix.
Despite his love of cheat days, they do seem to take a toll on his body.
After his brownie and sandwich cheat meal, he joked on Instagram, “by 2 [a.m.] I was drenched in sugar sweats trying to sleep.”
There’s a lot to process in The Rock’s Sunday cheat day series. The constant pancakes, the laptop always open in the background, THAT PLATE OF BROWNIES…
But there's one cheat meal that has truly mystified the internet.
That’s right — it’s an enormous plate of sushi! Sorry; two enormous plates of sushi.
“1 [a.m.] and the cheat meal sushi train rolls along like an unstoppable force,” he captioned a pic of the boatload of fish. “I wound up passed out on the couch like a wounded buffalo after destroying sushi.”
Mostly, people wondered where you get decadent sushi that looks like that at 1 a.m.
Others want to know where the plate of brownies is, because how is sushi “bad” for you?
FYI, we went back to his now-iconic brownie cheat day photo and saw that he thanked a “Chef Micah” for it.
So it’s pretty reasonable to assume that The Rock has a personal chef who makes him sushi like that at 1 a.m. if he wants it. What a life!
Regardless of where he got the sushi, it looks way better than one of his “normal” meals when he’s on the diet regimen.
Above is a photo of a typical pre-workout breakfast: egg whites and flank steak and a side of cream of wheat.
But soon enough, we’re back to our regularly scheduled programming of Sunday pancakes and a laptop movie!
So many flapjacks.
The Rock’s cheat days are so iconic that Men’s Journal once called him a “cheat-meal god.”
At the end of the day, The Rock is just a guy who likes to watch documentaries and eat all the carbs on Sundays. And honestly, same.
