A teenage girl in Massachusetts is being hailed this week for her bravery after encountering a home intruder, and taking all the right steps to bring him to justice.

The 16-year-old girl, who is not being named due to her age, was home alone after school at around 3 in the afternoon, when she heard breaking glass at her front door.

Like the brave Lasley sisters who fought to protect themselves, she quickly shut herself in the bathroom, hoping the intruder would think no one was home. The only problem? There was no lock on the bathroom door, and it wouldn’t shut all the way.

Terrified, the girl immediately called the police.

While confrontation has worked for a few potential victims, like this tough-as-nails convenience store clerk, police always recommend that you follow this girl’s example by getting to the safest spot available and calling the cops.

She heard the intruder walk past her hiding spot two or three times, while she waited in terror for the moment that he would burst through the door. Thankfully, the police responded swiftly, scaring the intruder downstairs.

Officers quickly discovered him hiding in a stand of shrubbery next to the house, and arrested him immediately for breaking and entering. And none of it would be possible without this brave teen who kept a cool head in a scary situation!
