Liz Marks was once a popular high school student. The beautiful blonde from Maryland was an aspiring model who loved hanging out with her friends and going to parties and football games.

Like most teenagers, she thought she was invincible.

In 2012, Liz’s life changed in one horrifying instant.

When she was 17 years old, Liz took her eyes off the road to look at a text message on her phone. This one simple text came from her very own mother, Betty.

Suddenly, Liz crashed her Mazda into a tow truck that was waiting to make a left turn.

Liz miraculously survived the terrible crash‚ but the physical and emotional scars will be with her forever.

She spent the next month recovering in intensive care. Her face was permanently scarred, she went blind in one eye, she lost her sense of smell… and the list goes on and on. To make matters worse, her circle of friends began to shrink and a hopeless feeling of isolation took over.

In 2014, Liz and Betty teamed up with the US Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to spread awareness about the dangers involved with distracted driving.

This is something everyone should see, so watch the video below for Liz’s latest update after her terrifying experience.
