Teen Sings Simple Version Of An Elvis Presley 1961 Hit With Just Her Guitar And Soulful Voice

by Lindsey Smith
Lindsey is from Florida and has worked in online and print media. Her happy place is Michaels craft store.

In 2014, just one year after competing on American Idol, 17-year-old Juliana Chahayed uploaded her rendition of Elvis Presley’s 1961 hit “Can’t Help Falling in Love” and it’s hard to imagine she was just a teen.

Elvis first released the song for the film Blue Hawaii and since then, it has become one of the greatest love songs of all time.

Juliana kept it simple with just a mic and her guitar, leaving her amazing vocals to be the focal point.

While Elvis’ original version has an island vibe to it because the film was set in Hawaii, Juliana’s cover of the tune has a soulful, open-mic night tone to it.

Juliana shows that even though she is young, her voice is matured beyond her years. She’s covered other classic songs like “Hallelujah” and “Moon River”, but none have gotten the attention from the online community more than “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” The video, as of June 2017, has over 5.6 million views in only two years of being posted.

Fans in the comments have told her they’ve used her version of the wedding song and it’s the best cover they’ve ever heard. Her cover of the song recently gained more popularity when a rendition of the original was featured in the horror movie The Conjuring 2 in 2016.
