World War II is arguably the most well-known and well-documented war in American history. There have been countless movies, television series, and books created in its memory.
The stories that they tell are romanticized, as all forms of entertainment tend to be, but that doesn’t make them any less heartbreaking.
But what is missing from these stories is the real-life words of the veterans themselves.
Their stories are grittier and more honest than a movie can ever encompass and the emotion of the soldier’s themselves is more authentic than an actor can portray.
So teenager Rishi Sharma has taken it upon himself to get these stories on film.
He’s visiting real World War II veterans and listening to what they have to say.
These men are able to speak about their sacrifices and tell the stories the way they really happened. And Sharma is encouraging other people to do the same thing in their towns.
All he’s using is his parents’ car and a camera; it’s that simple to preserve an important piece of history.
And, not to mention, you get to hear some incredible stories from the soldiers who were alive to witness them.
It’s a rare privilege to spend time with these men, and it’s important to share their experiences with others.
