Everyone knows that being a surgeon is no easy job — that’s why they have to go to school for years and years to do it.

Often, surgeries take hours and hours to complete, and the surgeon needs to have perfect focus. They have to be able to stand for hours on end without letting exhaustion take over.

Surgeons also need to have perfectly steady hands and be willing and able to go without meals, bathroom breaks, and personal space for serious lengths of time.

Surgery isn’t only physically difficult; it’s mentally draining as well — someone’s life is in your hands and they are completely depending on you.

In these high-pressure situations, surgeons, doctors, and nurses need to stay calm and not let their emotions get the best of them.

One surgeon, Luo Heng, performed two emergency surgeries one night, then continued with three more the next morning — the five surgeries lasted a total of 28 hours.

When he finally left the operating room, he fell asleep on the floor. He didn’t realize that someone was taking pictures.

The person that snapped the photo then posted it on China’s social media website Weibo.

After finally finishing hours of surgery, Doctor Heng curled up on the floor, still in his scrubs, and fell asleep.

When the photos hit social media, people were fast to respond to this sleeping doctor.

Everyone who saw the photo immediately began praising Doctor Heng for his hard work.

With his scrub cap and face mask still on, he looks ready to jump back to work the second anyone needs him.

He definitely deserved a nap after such a long shift!

Recently, someone shamed a nurse for sleeping at the hospital. But other health professionals jumped in to defend her, explaining that when you work in the medical field, you sleep when and where you can.

Many hospitals have on-call rooms and lounges for doctors and nurses to nap during long shifts, but sometimes those rooms are full or nonexistent.

Jobs in the medical field are exhausting, and doctors need to be well-rested to perform at their best, so they sleep when and where they can.

When there’s no designated nap area, they have to be creative.
