In April 2017, Mary took her two kids to their local Subway restaurant for dinner. She never expected her worst nightmare would come true.
Surveillance footage captured Mary’s oldest, 9-year-old Madeline, frantically running through the restaurant. Meanwhile, Mary was screaming for help at the back table.
Madeline got the attention of a 27-year-old man named Patrick who was ordering a sandwich at the counter. Patrick immediately dropped what he was doing and followed Madeline, only to find her 2-year-old baby brother, Noah, choking on his Doritos.
Patrick noticed Noah’s face was turning pale, then blue. With seconds to spare, he snapped into hero-mode and saved Noah within seconds as Mary watched on in horror.
Mary rushed Noah to the bathroom to clean him up, but when she went back out into the restaurant, the hero was gone.
Determined to thank him in person, Mary went online to beg anyone for information as to Patrick’s identity. After three days with no luck, she took to the media outlets.
Watch the video below to find out what happened next, all thanks to the power of social media and one determined, grateful mother.
According to NWI, the terrifying incident inspired Mary to look into taking CPR and first aid classes herself.
“She also wants to learn how to better calm herself in the face of an emergency (though she acknowledges it was her panic that quickly got a stranger’s attention).”
