When A Student Emails His Teacher Begging For Extra Credit, He Gets More Than He Asked For

There are two types of people in the world: those who liked math class because they were good at it, and those who didn’t because they weren’t as gifted. As a member of the latter group, a story involving begging a math teacher for extra credit and/or mercy is all too relatable.

Meet Deondre Wallace, a college student from Kansas City, MO. Like many of us, he was looking to do a little addition to his math grade, as in extra credit to raise his score.

With finals week either approaching or taking place at many universities throughout the country, it’s fair to say that Deondre isn’t the only student stressing about his grades right now.

However, most kids are hitting the books to ensure their final grades are where they want them to be. Deondre is probably also studying, but sometimes that’s just not enough….

On December 5, Deondre decided to take it a step further by emailing his professor Dr. Moore with a very straight forward subject line.

His subject line may have been simple, but a request for extra credit may not be so cut-and-dried. In fact, as Deondre points out, it might even take a Christmas miracle.

For safe measure, Deondre decides to suddenly break into song mid email, quoting “Where Is The Love?” a song calling for unity and support by the Black Eyed Peas.

Luckily for Deondre and his classmates, Dr. Moore decided to just this once reverse his strict “NO EXTRA CREDIT POLICY” and award his class with 20 extra credit points each.

Something tells me that Deondre is smiling nice and wide, just like he is here, thanks to Dr. Moore’s generosity.

Moral of the story? Beg for extra credit via email and you shall receive!
