A baby pygmy goat had a heartwarming reunion with his mom one day after he was stolen from his pen at the annual Arizona State Fair petting zoo.
Fair officials believe someone scooped up 5-pound GusGus and secretly walked out with him. At less than a month old, GusGus probably wouldn’t have survived without his mother’s milk, making the need to find him that much more urgent. Social media users even joined in by sharing the hashtag #FindGusGus on Twitter.
The goat’s mother, Custard, was reportedly heard crying for her baby, much like the time a rescued cow desperately called out for her missing baby.
Thankfully, a Phoenix resident saw little GusGus while walking his dog putting an end to the frantic search. The resident took him to a nearby PetSmart where employees immediately called the Arizona State Fair. Although it’s unknown who stole the goat, fair officials are thrilled for his safe return.
“As we walked GusGus up, his mother started going crazy, he started going crazy, just baaing,” Fair Livestock Director Karen Searle told the Arizona Republic. “I couldn’t not shed a tear. It was very moving and touching. It is a true miracle.”
