Every single time I see an abused or neglected dog, it makes me tear up.

Why anyone would ever harm or abandon a puppy is beyond me — these sweet animals need loving homes and people who will care for them.

Honestly, neglecting or abandoning a dog makes no sense. There are so many resources out there to help people who are struggling with dog ownership.

From classes that teach you how to care for your dog, to training courses to help your dog become better-behaved, to shelters that will take in your dog if you truly can’t provide care, there’s absolutely no reason to ever leave a dog outside to fend for itself.

Unfortunately, that still happens all the time.

In Detroit, some young men came across a tiny, starving puppy and didn’t know how to help.

They gave the dog food and water, and called every help agency they could think of — even 911.

Finally, they reached out to Fox 2 News, but when they arrived the next morning, the puppy was gone.

Luckily, someone called Detroit Animal Care and Control and found out they had the sweet black and white pup.

Now the dog is in the care of Detroit Dog Rescue, a shelter that will ensure he gets the medical attention he needs before being placed in a forever home.
