Soldier Dad Surprises His Daughter With Early Reunion At Her Graduation

by Jess Catcher
Jess grew up in Oklahoma before moving to New York to become a writer. She has a cat named Agnes.

Among all the dangers and duties a military man or woman endures during their deployment — whether their job is out on in the frontline or making sure everything goes smoothly back at base — it can also be difficult for them to know their loved ones are back and milestones are passing them by.

It’s just one of the many, many sacrifices made by those honorable men and women who protect our freedom.

Those lucky enough to be granted leave for special occasions know it’s important to make sure the reason is truly a once in a lifetime moment. I think we’d all agree that watching your children walk across the stage at graduation definitely qualifies as one of those incredible moments!

Unfortunately, recent graduate Camille Morris knew her father wouldn’t be able to make it for her big ceremony.

The Rancho Bernardo High School student’s father, Sgt. Derrick Morris, had been stationed in Kuwait since September without any sign of coming home soon.

However, like Staff Sgt. Jason Burpee did for his family, Derrick hatched an awesome plan to surprise his baby girl. The morning of Camille’s ceremony, he sent her a text confirming he would be unable to attend. What she didn’t realize, though, was that the text was sent from a hotel room right in town.

As she and her fellow students made their way in their caps and robes, Camille had no idea he was waiting to hand her flowers.

Take a look to see her reaction and be sure to SHARE the beautiful reunion with your friends and family!
