The birth of any animal is miraculous, no matter how they come into the world.

It’s an incredible thing — to ponder the development of a baby giraffe, bird, or even alligator. The entire process turns a simple, fertilized egg into a living, breathing creature!

But it’s not very often that we get to witness the birth of an animal. In this clip, one man managed to capture the moment a baby snake punctured the first hole in his shell, then slithered out into the world.

The birth occurs rather quickly, and the man helps the little snake along the way.

The first tiny slit allows the baby snake to stick his tongue out, to get a feel for the world outside the safety and confines of his shell.

As the man peels away the shell, the snake slowly finds his way out into open air. He carries himself out of the shell and succeeds in getting his entire body out in no time.

Perhaps one of the most surprising parts of this clip is just how long the baby snake appears to be. For such a tiny space, the snake seems to be quite large. Were you as surprised by this as we were?
