Simon Cowell Pays $233,000 For ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ Dancer’s Life-Changing Spinal Surgery

by Lindsey Smith
Lindsey is from Florida and has worked in online and print media. Her happy place is Michaels craft store.

Julia Carlile of the dance troupe MerseyGirls wowed Simon Cowell and the other Britain’s Got Talent judges this year with their amazing dance routines.

During their audition, Julia explained to the judges that she was born with scoliosis. “I have to have surgery soon and after surgery, I won’t be able to dance,” she explained. “So, this is like my last chance.”

Simon told Julia that she had “an amazing attitude” about her scoliosis and then watched the group perform.

The troupe went on to dominate the competition, and although they didn’t win, Julia took home something even greater.

There was a surgery that could be done in the United States that would straighten out her back and let her dance again, unlike the surgery back home.

After learning about her story, Simon offered to pay over £175,000 ($233,000) for her life-changing surgery.

“I owe Simon so much because if he hadn’t paid for me, my curve would have continued to increase, leaving me unable to dance and in a lot of pain,” Julia told Daily Mail. “Having an operation was my only choice.”

Thanks to Simon’s generosity, Julia can continue her dream and dance with her best friends now that her scoliosis has been fixed.
