Rare Albino Schnauzer Could Die From Harsh Sunlight So Owner Buys Special Glasses To Protect Him

by Jess Butler
Jess is a curly-haired Jersey girl who adores penguins and watches the worst reality shows on TV.

Sherlock, the schnauzer, loves to run around and play just like any other dog. However, this little guy has to be extra careful when he’s outside, or there could be major consequences.

You see, Sherlock has a rare form of dog albinism that leaves him susceptible to both severe sunburn and skin cancer. If the albino dog is out in the sun for too long, or if the sunlight is too harsh on his skin, he could be in danger.

Luckily, he and his owner know just how to tackle this big obstacle.

In the video below, posted on December 1, 2017, we see Sherlock’s owner, Netta McKay, strapping a pair of nifty sunglasses to the albino dog’s face.

These special spectacles resemble goggles and make Sherlock look extra cool, but in reality, they’re saving his life.

Netta also applies a sunscreen made just for dogs onto Sherlock’s skin for an extra layer of protection from the bright Australian sun.

Sherlock’s family takes extra precautions to protect his skin, like going for evening walks. This albino schnauzer sure is lucky to have such a devoted family. Their dedication to keeping him healthy and away from the sun shows just how much they love him!

Check out Sherlock and his special glasses in the video below, and please SHARE if you’re glad he doesn’t let his condition get the best of him!
