Vet Finds Duct-Taped Bin At Animal Hospital, Then Opens It On Camera And Finds 10 Puppies

Animal hospitals and shelters all over the country are working hard to combat a major problem: pet owners who don’t want to or can’t care for their animals are unceremoniously dumping them on the street or even on doorsteps.

In fact, the problem is so bad, it has resulted in overcrowding in shelters. Limited funds are stretched to the max, and unfortunately, sometimes institutions have to make the tough decision to euthanize a sick animal.

So when Jennifer Patterson with the Patterson Animal Hospital opened a sealed tub with 10 puppies inside, she was furious.

The tub was duct taped, and Jennifer chose to open it on camera, carefully cutting the tape before opening the lid.

When she saw what was inside, she was so shocked that she couldn’t help but say, “Oh my gosh!”

It’s always a difficult situation when vets get surprises like this one. They have no idea if the animals are sick or what they have been exposed to. Sometimes, shelters don’t have the resources to take the animals.

Luckily, in the case of these 10 puppies, each one has been adopted since the video of the discovery was released and went viral, but vets want to warn people that happy endings like this one don’t always occur.

Jennifer added that the best course of action is to just ask questions. She tells ABC Action News, “If people would contact us we’d give them resources and we’d try to help them out before just dumping them on our doorstep and making us decide what to do.”
