After three years of blood, sweat and tears, Doug Immel finally completed his tiny house on wheels. The music teacher from Massachusetts decided to downsize his life and realized tiny living was the perfect solution.
Doug built his own 8 foot by 20 foot mobile tiny house on a trailer while simultaneously working as a full-time educator.
The insulated house has everything he needs, like a composting toilet, sleeping loft, full shower, fireplace and fully functioning kitchen.
But perhaps the most fascinating and notable feature of Doug’s house is the sun room he built himself. According to Tiny House Talk, “Doug used glass storm doors to create one of the world’s tiniest sun rooms at the entrance instead of the usual porch. With this design idea he’s been able to generate solar heat using the sun room and what he does is simply open his front door to let some of the heat into the cabin for passive solar gain.”
And here’s the real kicker: Doug says his annual utility bill comes to just $176 per year, or just $14.66 a month!
