Julie Kay Ryff took her son Levi to see Santa at a Bass Pro Shops location in Olathe, Kansas. She had no idea it would turn into one of the most beautiful experiences of their lives.
A trio of children, including Levi, happily posed with Santa. When they hopped off his lap, Santa asked each kid what they wanted for Christmas.
After the two little girls shared their wishes, Santa turned to the shy and quiet Levi — but his mom spoke on his behalf. “He doesn’t talk much, but he’s on the kidney transplant list, so he would like a new kidney for Christmas.”
It was clear that Santa was taken aback by the unexpected and heartbreaking wish.
He decided his encounter with Levi wasn’t over quite yet.
Santa immediately reached for Levi and placed him back on his lap. He wrapped his arm around the boy and started to pray.
“He hugged Levi and set him down,” Julie said. “He looked me in the eye and squeezed my hand.”
Julie walked away with her son, crying. “It never ceases to amaze me how God puts people in your path to bless and encourage you when you need it most, and usually it comes in the most unexpected places and ways. I’m thankful for this sweet man tonight.”
