16 Skaters Line Up On The Ice, Then Raise Their Arms And Blow The Audience Away

The video below shows the 2013 World Synchronized Skating competition, and one performance in particular.

The Russian team of 16 female skaters takes the ice to perform alongside Whitney Houston’s classic song, “I Will Always Love You.” As if that song weren’t reason enough to watch and enjoy, these skaters are absolutely unbelievable: they’re so graceful that they actually look like they’re floating, and their simple white costumes are the perfect accent to the emotional song.

From the very first pose they strike on the ice, it’s clear that these women are experts at their craft. As they glide together and apart, their swift moves and smooth skating will absolutely captivate you. Judging by the general hush in the building, it’s clear that the audience is just as spellbound.

Make sure you watch this video until the very end — the moment the camera catches the sobbing skater in the finale is so powerful. These athletes are so focused and powerful, which makes the moments of raw emotion all the more memorable.

I can’t imagine how long it took them to perfect this incredible performance, but one thing’s for sure: this is one performance I’ll never forget.
