Kensington Palace rarely issues official statements about members of the royal family and virtually never responds to rumors about them that appear in the press.
But apparently, the royals were pushed to their limit when it came to the rampant stories about how Meghan Markle and her sister-in-law Kate Middleton are “feuding.”
Reports that the Duchesses of Cambridge and Sussex don’t see eye to eye have grown in frequency over the past few weeks. The unconfirmed stories and speculation hit their peak after Kensington Palace announced that Meghan and Prince Harry would be leaving that royal estate behind for their new home at Frogmore Cottage on the grounds of Windsor Castle.
In one of the most recent stories regarding the so-called feud, UK newspaper the Sun reported a royal source telling them that Meghan and Kate had a tiff ahead of the former’s royal wedding in May. According to that report, Meghan and Kate allegedly had an argument after Meghan was rude to and “berated” Kate’s staff. The source claimed that Kate told the former Suits actress, “That’s unacceptable, they’re my staff and I speak to them.”
But the royal family isn’t pulling any punches when it comes to entertaining that particular rumored story.
“This never happened,” a Kensington Palace spokesman said of the supposed wedding confrontation, according to People. The spokesman declined to comment on any other rumors or reports about the royals at this time. Interestingly, the palace did not confirm or deny whether another royal wedding confrontation between Meghan and Kate happened — People also reported that Kate was “left in tears” after Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress fitting for Meghan’s wedding.
While this is probably as close as we’ll ever get to the truth about the relationship between the royal sisters-in-law, royal experts previously weighed in with their belief that Meghan and Kate are not feuding but are simply not very close friends.
