When a man (or woman) plans a proposal, a lot of thought usually goes into determining where, when, and how it will be done.

Obviously, the individual proposing to his or her partner is likely to be extremely nervous when getting down on one knee. So, we can’t blame one man for a huge mishap during his proposal, despite his best efforts.

Seth Dixon was proposing to his girlfriend, Ruth Salas, when he accidentally dropped the $3,000 ring in the pond!

Everything was going smoothly until he pulled the ring out of the box. The couple heard a “plop” below them, and knew that it was lost.

The couple proceeded to wade through the murky water to look for it at the bottom of the pond, but with no luck. They hired a man with a metal detector to look for it, but couldn’t find it either.

Finally, 25 friends from their church tried to help them too. A photographer captured the moment they, too, were in the pond looking for the ring, but they were unsuccessful.

Despite the mishap, Seth and Ruth are still very much engaged!

Unfortunately, Seth is still making payments on the lost ring that Ruth will not be able to able to wear. A GoFundMe page was created to help the couple replace the lost jewelry.
