Renata Leite Pitman is a researcher at the Los Amigos Biological Station in Peru, so you’d expect her to know how to handle herself in the wild — and how to deal with potentially dangerous animals.
But the footage in the video below is just ridiculous!
I mean, I know that my initial reaction to seeing a snake on the loose isn’t to chase it down!
Shot at the station by Amanda Klass, the video shows what happened after a group of visitors suddenly came upon a wayward, six-foot yellow-tailed cribo snake.
It’s unclear where the snake came from, but it seems as though the reptile is trying to escape — or perhaps heading somewhere it really shouldn’t be!
Amanda and her fellow visitors can only watch and record as the large snake slithers by, but Renata doesn’t just stand around and watch. The researcher literally launches after the snake.
Just as the wayward serpent is about to disappear into the bushes, Renata tackles it, grasping its neck and pulling it back out.
Amanda and the other visitors go wild; they can’t believe the fearlessness of the researcher!
