No holiday party — heck, no party! — is complete without a cheese plate. But if you’re anything like us, you tend to err on the side of “more is more” when it comes to cheese.
So what’s a halloumi-loving hostess to do with all those delicious leftovers? We turned to our favorite entertaining expert, Slice host Evette Ríos, for her go-to tip for repurposing the odds and ends from a holiday cheese board: a fromage fort!
No, a fromage fort isn’t a cabin cobbled together from cubes of cheddar. Fromage fort actually means “strong cheese” in French, and it is absolutely delicious. Moreover, it couldn’t be easier to make.
All you need is leftover cheese, garlic, and a bottle of white wine. We suggest stocking up at Walmart, which carries everything from mascarpone and aged cheddar to smoked Gouda and Brie and will deliver the tasty haul right to your car when you order ahead using convenient Walmart Grocery Pickup.
Cut off any remaining rinds and throw it all in a blender or food processer. Add white wine and garlic to taste, and blend until smooth. Voilà! In less time than it takes to pack the leftover cheese up in Tupperware, you’ve got a creamy, decadent spread that will have guests at your next fete crying, “Ooh la la!” Or you could save it all for yourself. We don’t judge.
