Reese Witherspoon Says She Would Love To See The Original Cast Back For ‘Legally Blonde 3’

by Stephanie Kaloi

Legally Blonde was a monster hit when it was released in 2001, and fans clamored for a follow-up. The second installment was largely panned by critics when it came out in 2003, but fans still ate it up.

So much so that they have been begging Reese Witherspoon for a third film — and she’s not opposed to the idea.

While speaking to ET recently, Reese name-dropped the actors from the original movie whom she’d love to have back if a third film comes to fruition. Being careful to note that the film is only in development right now, she still quickly rattled off a list of fan favorites. “I love Jennifer Coolidge and Luke Wilson and Selma Blair and so there’s so many great characters that people love,” she said.

“If we end up doing it, hopefully they’re all going to be there.”

That’s sure to be welcome news to Legally Blonde fans, who for now will need to keep hoping that the film series they love keeps growing. For now, fans of Reese can get their fill of her in her upcoming project The Morning Show, which costars Jennifer Aniston. Reese explained to ET, “I don’t think we’re used to seeing two female leads in anything. I don’t think we’re used to it because I don’t think we’ve had enough of it.” The Morning Show, which will stream on AppleTV+, chronicles the fallout after a male morning show anchor is fired for sexual misconduct.

In addition to these projects, Reese also has three films up her sleeve that will be released in the next few years.
