He Took His Daughter Out For Valentine’s Day. How People Reacted? WHOA.

Todd is a LittleThings editor. He grew up in Texas and has lived in New York since 2003. He doesn't own a Boston terrier, but he will one day soon.

Sometimes when I read the news or peruse my Facebook feed, I get overwhelmed by all the negativity, fighting, and bitterness I see online.

It feels like our society is getting more and more selfish, which is why I really appreciate stories of random acts of kindness.

It’s such a relief to hear about people actually being kind to one another, and recently a user on the photo-sharing website Imgur uploaded a a note from two anonymous strangers that proves that there are still people in the world willing to take time to do something kind for strangers.

The user is a single dad who brought his six-year-old daughter out to dinner to celebrate Valentine’s day.

Little did he know, his actions were being watched the entire time.

Two strangers left a note saying that they had been raised without dads, and they know how a strong male role model is important for a child. They congratulated his parenting skills and let him know that they had paid for his and his daughter’s dinner!

After uploading a photo of the note, he commented under it saying, “I wont lie. I teared up at the table. So thank you random strangers.”

You can read the note below. I wish we could all treat each other with this much generosity and care.

“Hi there!

Sorry to spy but my husband & I saw you out with your little date & were so impressed with what a great dad you are.

From two adults who grew up without dads, its [sic] so important to have a male role model at a young age.

Keep up the good work Dad!

Dinner is on us!”
