Of course, those siblings don’t necessarily need to be humans. Meet Rally and Jetson, two puppy brothers with a truly adorable love story, courtesy of their mom Mary Beth Johnston, and the rescue center Pawsitive Tails!
Little Rally, just a tiny puppy at the time, was living in deplorable conditions in a pet store in Olathe, Kansas. At just 13 pounds, the baby Boxer was so skinny that rescuers could count every rib. They also quickly discovered that Rally was deaf, though it’s not clear if he was born that way, or if it’s a result of his neglect. An investigation was quickly launched into the pet store and the breeders, and rescuers began to look around for a foster family for Rally.
They quickly found a willing candidate in Mary Beth Johnston.
Mary Beth had fostered several dogs in the past, and already had three adorable pups of her own, including another young Boxer named Jetson. She seemed like the perfect match: an experienced dog owner to take care of little Rally until he found his forever home.
While the term might sound negative, it actually refers to a very sweet phenomenon. Frequent foster parents get used to having pups like Rally go in and out of their lives, but sometimes you fall in love, and just can’t let them go again. The fostering process fails, but only because the adoption process succeeds! Rally was already making himself right at home, cuddling up with all his new friends.
But even though the whole family adores Rally, he formed one very special bond.
Jetson, Johnston’s other Boxer, was a foster failure in his own right, and he and Rally became attached to one another straight away. Though Rally has gained a lot of weight since arriving in his forever home, he’s still just a pipsqueak. Jetson has taken on the role of parent, protector, big brother and cuddle buddy, all rolled into one.
They spend all day playing, and then take breaks for the favorite activity: napping!
Even though they aren’t biologically related, these two definitely look like brothers. Clearly, they see one another as siblings, cuddling up whenever possible to take an unbelievably adorable snooze. Just look at Rally’s squished up face, how darling is he?!
Honestly, I'm pretty convinced that this is a "puppy love" story for the ages.
Rally and Jetson clearly adore one another. Mary Beth Johnston even catches these cutie pies “spooning” from time to time during their frequent naps. And Jetson seems to be a good mentor for little Rally, who has some trouble with training because of his deafness. Johnston is training him to learn sign language, and in the meantime, he has big brother Jetson on hand to help him grow up, and to keep an eye on him!
