These Quirky Turkey Stories Are The Perfect Conversation Starter At Thanksgiving Dinner

Chicken and turkey may have a lot of similarities, but you won’t commonly see people chowing down on chicken on Thanksgiving night.

Turkeys have become a big part of the Thanksgiving tradition, and even if you don’t partake in eating them, you can at least spend some time learning about them.

Inside Edition put together a fun video with some inspiring turkey stories.  The first is one of the best, and something you’ll have to see to believe. It’s all about a turkey-loving collie named Molly who is responsible for the lives and safety of over 1,400 turkeys. When there’s a fox around, Molly helps make sure that it doesn’t go after the turkeys in her care.

Turkey-herding dogs may be nothing new, but what’s extraordinary about Molly is that she can do the job fairly quickly. In fact, her owner states that Molly is more efficient at herding turkeys than any human could ever be. It just proves that dogs will someday take over the world. (They’ve already taken over our hearts, so world domination is likely the next step.)

But Inside Edition doesn’t stop at Molly. They also chatted with Ellie Laks, who’s the founder of The Gentle Barn. Ellie started her own Thanksgiving tradition — instead of eating turkey on Thanksgiving, she brought a community together to pet turkeys, feed the turkeys, and learn more about plant-based diets. It’s the perfect solution for anyone who wants to celebrate turkeys in a more humane way.

The video explores these incredible stories and more. Watching the whole video will ensure that you’ll truly get into the Thanksgiving spirit.
