I have good news and bad news. The good news is that a rescue Chihuahua named Lupita Conchita had an enormously successful and adorable quinceañera party.
The bad news is that you weren’t invited.
Lupita’s owner, Miranda Sanchez, threw her the quinceañera as an excuse to pamper her special pup. Miranda originally found Lupita on the streets when the pup was just 2 weeks old.
Sadly, the little puppy had been abused by her previous owners. But when she came across Miranda, her life took a huge turn for the better.
“I saw Lupita in the road and I was kind of just waiting for her to move,” said Miranda told Today.
“But then I opened my door and she was standing right there and her eyes were so cute. I knew I had to take her in.”
That was two years ago.
Since then, Lupita has enjoyed the best life that a pup could ask for.
But recently, things got even better.
Lupita is around 2 years old, which adds up to about 15 years old in doggy years, according to Miranda’s estimation. Quinceañeras are a traditional way to celebrate a girl’s 15th birthday in many Spanish-speaking countries.
In other words, it was time for THE BEST DOG PARTY EVER.
Because after such a difficult childhood, Lupita definitely deserved it.
“I had seen dog quinceañeras before and I thought they were so cute, plus, Lupita is a Mexican dog so I thought, ‘How cute!'”
The celebration was complete with decorations, cake, cupcakes, and cake pops. That’s three (3) types of dessert.
“She was loving it,” Miranda told the Dodo. “I got her her own personal cake and cupcakes and cake pops for the guests.”
Miranda also got Lupita’s favorite food: barbecued ribs.
“I also figured it was another excuse to get my family together to enjoy food and music!” Miranda said.
Seven of Lupita’s canine friends came to the party, too.
“All the girl dogs were dressed up in little dresses, it was adorable. Lupita was in hog heaven.”
But when Miranda’s cousin posted about the quinceañera on social media, other pups were pretty disappointed that they hadn’t gotten the invite.
Maybe the invitations got lost in the mail.
Or maybe there wasn’t enough room at the party.
Lots of pups were visibly upset, and even one cat was slightly bothered.
Seriously, what’s the deal?
Maybe not everyone is cool enough to attend Lupita’s parties?
She IS kind of a big deal.
But there’s always next time – and there will be a next time.
“I want to do one next year,” Miranda said. “But it would be her 21st birthday.”
Oh. My. God.
