Fans of the royal family were shocked when palace officials confirmed rumors that Meghan Markle would be spending Christmas with the Queen and the rest of the royal family.

Prince Harry’s wife-to-be broke tradition by becoming the very first fiancée of a member of the royal family to spend the holiday with them — something that not even Kate Middleton managed to do until she officially married Prince William in 2011.

But when the first photos of the family’s Christmas mass excursion emerged on Monday, it became clear that the former Suits star fit in seamlessly among the posh royals. In a recent interview, Prince Harry confirmed as much.

During the prince’s December 27, 2017, special appearance on Radio 4’s Today program, he talked about Meghan’s “fantastic” first Christmas as part of the family.

“She really enjoyed it,” Prince Harry revealed. “The family loved having her there.”

The redheaded royal also confirmed earlier reports that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had hosted the newly engaged couple over the holiday — and Meghan even spent time with Prince George and Princess Charlotte!

“There’s always that family part of Christmas [where] there’s always that work element as well, and I think together we had an amazing time,” he continued. “We had great fun staying with my brother and sister-in-law and running round with the kids. Christmas was fantastic.”

“She’s done an absolutely amazing job. She’s getting in there, and it’s the family I suppose that she’s never had,” the prince said in a later part of the interview, according to Huffington Post.
