Prince George May Have Inherited This ‘Naughty’ Christmas Habit From His Grandma, Princess Diana

Prince George has an adorably naughty Christmas habit — and apparently, it runs in the family!

The little prince can’t help but sneak into his gifts before Christmas Day, Marie Claire reports.

His father, Prince William, opened up about it in a 2016 interview. Far from upset, Will thought it was “quite funny.”

And that’s not surprising, because Prince George’s grandmother, Princess Diana, apparently had the exact same habit… and so did William.

Princess Diana wrote a letter to a friend in December 1985 that explained her own tendency to open gifts early.

“I could not resist opening my present, as a parcel of any shape or form has never been safe with me,” the Princess of Wales once wrote.

“I fear that William has also picked up this dreadful habit from his mother, as I find wrapping paper undone in the most extraordinary places!”

No wonder the family can’t get mad at George for his mischief!

Prince George takes after his late grandma, Princess Diana, in a number of ways.

Previously, Prince William revealed that both of them shared a love of dance.

And now, Marie Claire reports that George has inherited a second, more mischievous habit from his grandmother.

Apparently, Prince George has a “dreadful” habit of sneaking into his Christmas gifts to open them early.

Prince William admitted the habit in a 2016 interview with a London radio station, KISS FM.

“I had a really nice chat with Prince William who told me that this was their last week at work, as it were, before Christmas,” a KISS FM DJ told Hello! magazine at the time.

“He said they were all really excited about it and that George is already opening his presents. He thought it… quite funny. That’s kids for you, even the ones that are princes!”

Prince George was 3 years old at the time of the interview. He’s now 5, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he still sneaks into his gifts. I mean, would you be able to resist taking a look at your awesome presents if you were an actual prince?

“I rushed home to open your Christmas present, which I thought was quite good considering the 25th is actually two weeks away!!” Princess Diana wrote in the letter.

She then added that she’d possibly passed this habit on to Prince William.

“I could not resist opening my present, as a parcel of any shape or form has never been safe with me and I fear that William has also picked up this dreadful habit from his mother, as I find wrapping paper undone in the most extraordinary places!”

Strangely, Prince William was 3 years old at the time of the letter — the same age that Prince George was when Prince William gave his interview.

What a coincidence!

At this point, the Christmas mischief is basically family tradition. And this isn’t the only way Prince George likes to give his parents a bit of a hard time.

“George is a right little rascal sometimes, he keeps me on my toes but he’s a sweet boy,” Prince William said of his son in 2016, according to Hello!.

Indeed, Prince George and Princess Charlotte are both amazingly well-behaved in public — except for George’s occasional silly faces or giggles. I mean, he is a 5-year-old boy, after all.

Since Christmas with the royal family is a bit of a stiff affair, he deserves to have a little fun, don’t you think?

Princess Diana would, quite possibly, agree.
