Charity Ruiz was heavily pregnant and scheduled to have a C-section. But just one week prior to the birth of her third baby, fires began to ravage the state of California.

As the flames took over Charity’s neighborhood in Santa Rosa, she knew she needed to get her and her children far away and as fast as possible.

But the entire community was trying to evacuate and a traffic jam stopped them in their tracks — leaving Charity, her two daughters and her unborn baby in the middle of the fiery street.

“Honestly, I’ve never in my life felt like I was going to die like that moment,” Charity told CBS. “Not just me, but my girls and unborn baby.”

That’s when the determined mom put a plan into motion. She rushed back to her house and grabbed her bicycle and its attached toddler trailer and rode through the fire with her girls in the back.

This was a nearly impossible task, since the pregnant Charity was terrified of tipping over and falling… but she kept on pedaling.
