Portia de Rossi just addressed some pesky rumors that she’s divorcing Ellen Degeneres, her wife of nearly 10 years, in the most nonchalant way.

The 45-year-old Arrested Development actress squashed the gossip in an interview with Us Weekly last week, telling the magazine that she’s not phased by questions about the status of her marriage. In fact, she’s sort of flattered that people are even asking. After all, while her and Ellen’s 2008 wedding was a huge moment for the LGBT community, it wasn’t without controversy. With all this talk about divorce, Portia finally feels like they’re being treated the same as any other couple in Hollywood.

“The divorce rumors came and then we really knew the perceptions had changed,” Portia explained. “I’m not kidding. I know it sounds ridiculous, but when that started happening I thought, ‘Oh, now we’re finally accepted.’ We get the same sh*t as every celebrity couple.”

Portia and Ellen have faced the same cycle of rumors as other celebrity couples, the former continued; divorce rumors are just the tip of the iceberg.

“I thought, ‘Wow, this is great that I’m pregnant, not pregnant, divorced, not divorced,’ whatever,” Portia said. “That means there is an acceptance for this.”

Portia went on to say that she and Ellen try to ignore any and all rumors, no matter how ridiculous they are.

“I was at a newsstand… and there was a cover of Brad [Pitt] and Jen [Aniston],” Portia told Us. “I literally just stared at it, and I was like, ‘They haven’t seen each other.… How is this even a thing? I know for a fact.’ … I actually took a picture of it and sent it to Ellen and said, ‘Can you believe this?’ Anyway, no, in other words, we avoid it. We don’t care.”

Ellen and Portia tied the knot in August 2008, years before gay marriage was legalized nationwide.

Ellen and Portia tied the knot in August 2008, years before gay marriage was legalized nationwide.

They exchanged vows at their Beverly Hills home in front of fewer than 20 guests.

Ever since then, they’ve remained one of the most prominent lesbian couples in Hollywood — not to mention the most adorable.

A longtime philanthropist, Portia started the Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund this past January in honor of her wife’s 60th birthday. The foundation supports global conservation efforts for critically endangered species.

“I thought this was a big birthday, 60, and she’s not going to do her talk show [The Ellen DeGeneres Show] forever, and I want her to be able to look forward to retiring,” Portia told Us later in the same interview.

Portia surprised Ellen with the thoughtful gift during an episode of that very show, which is currently in its 15th season.

Portia told Us that it was really hard to keep the birthday surprise to herself.

“All of it was a complete surprise, which was very difficult. It was so difficult to keep it from her,” she said. “She’s so observant. I literally had to take my email address off all of our shared devices at home… because I knew that if she saw an email coming in from Africa, it would be all over. She would put it all together.”

After Portia’s big reveal, the couple flew to Rwanda together to get to work on the wildlife fund’s first initiative: building a permanent campus for the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund.

“I can’t begin to describe what this experience was like or how much it means to me,” DeGeneres captioned a video of a gorilla she took during the trip. “I’m so grateful.”

Sorry, rumor mill: You can’t get under this happy couple’s skin!
