Eda is a 25-year-old accountant coordinator from Missouri. Though she weighs 260 pounds, she used to weigh much more — and she credits her awesome transformation to pole dancing.
Growing up, Eda had an unhealthy relationship with food and body image; she suffered from anorexia in college. After meeting her now husband, Eda began to eat again and her calorie intake spiraled out of control. Her confidence plummeted. In fact, she went a whole year without looking in the mirror. Finally, something inside her clicked, and Eda decided to turn her life around. That’s when she discovered pole dancing, of all things.
She has only been dancing for two years, and never did any form of exercise before — but after just a few weeks, Eda was hooked.
Plus, it didn’t hurt that she lost 65 pounds. “I was afraid at first about people laughing at me and making fun of me because I didn’t want people to discourage me,” she says. “But once I started going and the weight fell off, I felt more confident about what I was doing and it didn’t matter what people were going to say.”
When Eda decided to share her pole dancing on Facebook, nothing prepared her for the response. Nasty online commenters have called her every name in the book, from “ghastly” to “hideous.” One person even told her she should commit suicide. However, the majority of comments have been highly supportive, and messages have been flooding in to show their support for Eda.
Pole dancing has boosted every area of her life, from her job to her marriage. Simply put, Eda is more confident now than ever before. Read on to meet this awesome woman, and to watch her dancing in action…
