Airman Returns Home After 6 Months Of Training To An Overwhelming Reunion With His Dachshund

Grace plays in a band and is the mother to a black cat named Fitzhugh.

P.J. Smith spent six months in Pensacola, FL, training to become a member of the United States Air Force.

That’s such a noble thing for a young man or woman to do for their country, giving up those prime years of his or her life, taking them away from their family and friends to serve their country and protect the citizens back home.

Smith not only left behind his parents, but a son. Well, a canine son, but a son nonetheless! A dog is, after all, a man’s very best friend.

His dachshund, Romeo, was staying with his parents while he was away for training. Romeo was being very well taken care of by Grandma and Grandpa.

But, he definitely missed his dad, and you can tell by the enthusiastic reunion below.

There’s nothing better than seeing a happy dog reunited with his soldier, safe and sound. Let us know what you think in the comments!

Romeo was waiting out in the backyard when P.J. Smith got home. The dog had no idea he was coming, but you can tell that this little guy sensed that something was up.

Once Smith’s father opened the door to let Romeo in, he dashed past him, running as fast as his little legs would go.

He bobbed in and out of rooms as fast as he could, tracking down the scent of his dad.

When he finally made it to the right room, his tiny legs made it hard to see who was on top of the bed. With his tail wagging madly, he tried his best to peer over the edge.

Once Smith revealed himself, the pooch could hardly contain his excitement any longer. He immediately smothered Smith with kisses.

This young military man-in-training could hardly get up on account of all the puppy love!

Yet, he managed… eventually.

Clearly, these two are very close. Six months is a long time in dog years… three and a half years, to be exact!

What a lovely reunion. It’s like Romeo is thanking Smith for his service, too!
