When a train recently broke down in Delaware on the way to Washington, D.C., from New York City, passengers started to get antsy as 30 minutes turned to 60 minutes, and 60 minutes turned into two full hours.
Not only did they get antsy, but they also started to get very hungry.
What did one passenger do when he simply couldn’t stand the stomach grumbling any longer, with no rescue in sight? He ordered a pizza.
Said hungry passenger rang up Dom’s New York Style Pizzeria in Newport, Delaware, and asked to get two hot pizzas delivered to his stalled train.
Jim Leary of Dom’s Pizzeria got the hungry call for help and immediately jumped on the case.
Not only did Jim deliver the pizzas to the hungry, stranded customer, but he did it with a smile. He climbed down a steep, damp hill to get to the train and walked along the train tracks until he found the man who had made the call.
Not every pizza delivery person would complete a call like this one, but Jim leapt at the opportunity to make someone’s crappy day just a little bit better (and cheesier).
What did Jim have to say about this?
“It’s all in a day’s work.”
Now that is a great attitude that we could all learn something from.
