Pop singer Pink is set to perform the national anthem before the Super Bowl on February 4, 2018.

Pink revealed on her Instagram page a day before the event that she is struggling to get her voice back and is suffering from the flu. She posted a lengthy caption, along with a rehearsal photo at the stadium.

“Trying to practice the flu away. I’ve been waiting to sing this song since 1991 when I saw my idol, Whitney Houston, own this song,” she wrote. “I’ve arrived at another one of my dreams which is slowly becoming a sort of nightmare.”

Pink would not only join the legendary Whitney Houston but also the likes of Luke Bryan, Lady Gaga, and, Kelly Clarkson, who have all also performed the national anthem before kickoff.

The singer explained that she got the flu from her two children, who coughed directly into her mouth. “You can’t write this stuff I swear! And here we are,” she wrote. “I promise I will do my best, as I always do.”

She went on to say that singing the national anthem at the Super Bowl is “one of the biggest honors” of her life. She also used a hashtag “please give me my voice back” at the end of her Instagram post.

At the time of posting, Pink is still scheduled to perform.
