For women with kids, Mother’s Day can be a wonderful holiday — it’s usually filled with cards, flowers, and a delicious breakfast in bed. It’s a day many mothers look forward to for months.

But what about all the mamas out there who don’t have human kids? That’s right, I’m talking about all the women who have fur babies that they devote all their time and energy to.

Unlike human children, dogs and cats generally can’t make gifts, cards, or breakfast for their humans — unless you consider pinecones and bird feathers to be gifts.

This year, help your doggo or kitty make a wonderful card for their human mama (even if that’s you). All you need is a thick piece of paper and some pet-safe paint, which you can learn how to make below!

  • Cornstarch
  • Water
  • Pet-safe natural food coloring

  1. Combine cornstarch and water using a 2:1 ratio.
  2. Add 3 drops of pet-safe natural food coloring.
  3. Stir with a fork until color is fully integrated.
  4. Let your pet paint! (Or, you know, help them paint.)

And to all you dog and cat (and bunny and fish and lizard and snake) moms — Happy Mother’s Day!

If you know someone who would love getting a card like this for Mother’s Day, make one for them — or, better yet, SHARE this article with them on Facebook!
