Cat Vanishes On Cross-Country Trip, Then Mom Is Floored When She Reappears 200 Miles Away

Sacramento, California, resident Cherrell Bishop was absolutely heartbroken when her beloved cat Penny went missing while on a cross-country road trip.

Penny escaped from the RV at a pit stop and scurried away, right on the border of Oklahoma and Missouri. All Cherrell could do at that point was hope and pray that some kind stranger would find her and call the number on her tag.

Weeks went by without a word on the sweet cat. I can only imagine all the terrible images that went through Cherrell’s head on those long days during which her fur baby was lost somewhere in the middle of the country.

Cut to Elizabeth Givens, a grandmother living a short distance from Oklahoma City, about 200 miles from where Penny escaped. One fine day, she spotted a friendly little lost cat at her home looking a bit hungry, but otherwise pretty healthy.

The grandma noticed the small cat clearly missed her family.

Elizabeth called the number on the tag and was able to deliver the best news in the world to Cherrell.

While the cat is safe and sound, Cherrell is still looking for a way to bring her baby home, as it’s very expensive to fly pets across the country. There is now a GoFundMe account set up to get Penny to her rightful home.

Please SHARE with your family and friends on Facebook and help get Penny back to California!
