Couple Adopts Newborn Baby And 18 Years Later They Say She Doesn’t Fit In With Their Family

by June Rivers
When she's not blogging for the 'net, June loves cuddling with her cats and reading in her library at home.

Eighteen years ago, Beth and Jim adopted a newborn baby girl named Maddie. But life was about to throw them all a major curveball.

At the age of 9, Maddie was diagnosed with ADHD and bipolar disorder. That’s when things took a downward spiral.

Maddie understands that she can be difficult and volatile, as well as the importance mental health treatment. But she also claims her parents have used her illnesses against her, as if she’s the reason for the family’s dysfunction.

Maddie says Beth and Jim have gone so far as to kick her out of their home multiple times and hospitalize her against her will — all because she wasn’t the “perfect child” they expected.

In a heartbreaking interview with Dr. Phil, Maddie says she feels unloved and convinced that her parents regret their decision to adopt her.

Even Jim admitted to having second thoughts. “She doesn’t fit in,” he said. “There are times when I’ve wondered what it would be like to have my own children.”

Beth and Jim explained to Dr. Phil why they’ve taken such drastic measures with Maddie. Is she really as out of control as they claim?
