She loves discovering and sharing viral videos, watching movies with her Muppet-like poodle mix named Cali, and doing the robot whenever possible.

In 2008, Shawn Johnson won a gold medal in gymnastics at the Summer Olympics in Beijing. The celebrated gymnast went on to win Dancing With the Stars, write several books, and make many television appearances.

In 2016, she married pro football player Andrew East, and sadly their first pregnancy ended in miscarriage. Shawn spoke publicly about the devastating loss and unexpectedly became a strong voice for so many women who have struggled with miscarriage.

Two years later, Shawn gave birth to their rainbow baby. And three months later, the couple brought baby Drew to the beach in Miami, Florida.

While sitting on the sand, Shawn began to carefully “baby-flip” Drew upside down and around, as if to mimic her own talent for tumbling.

It was supposed to be a quick, fun, and innocent moment captured on camera between mother and daughter.

Shawn shared the video on Instagram. “Roo’s first flip!! (she was PERFECTLY safe… so don’t even haha),” she wrote.

But the clip garnered lots of criticism from “mommy shamers” who weren’t too happy with the way Shawn was handling her own child.

Now Shawn has a message for all the haters out there.
