Dog lovers everywhere would argue that their pets are just like our children: we care for them, love them, and nourish them.
We protect them from the cold and harm. They are like family to us.
But some pet owners don’t necessarily care for their dogs the way they should. Sometimes, they are too elderly to properly pay attention to their animals. Other times, they are simply neglectful, which was the case of the owners of Ollie, a pit bull and lab mix left out in the cold to die.
When Ollie’s owners moved away, they left their two dogs out with the trash.
Rescuers from the Detroit-area animal welfare group DAWG received a call about one of the dogs, a small one, that was roaming around the neighborhood.
When they showed up to investigate, they were told by neighbors that the family came back to retrieve the small pup, but abandoned Ollie. Fortunately, the rescuers noticed Ollie tied to the trash heap on the curb, left out in the cold for over a week.
The pit bull was emaciated, malnourished, and had clearly been mistreated for a while before he was found. Rescuers quickly took him in, realizing that the pup had a lot of love to give. He instantly greeted them with kisses!
Ollie is recovering from a broken femur, but he will be available for a loving family soon!
Please SHARE to let pet owners know that, if they cannot care for their animals anymore, they should give them to rescue groups to be taken good care of!
